SESSION 1 | OPENING OF MONUMENTOS A LAS MATERNIDADES
Molly Gochman, Artist
There are monuments to heroes, battles and founders, but almost none to the work that sustains everything else: mothering and caregiving. Monuments to Motherhood, by artist Molly Gochman, comes to Oaxaca to make that work visible and open a conversation about who provides care, under what conditions and with what recognition.
The opening brings together women working in public policy, community organizing, domestic work, economic leadership and the arts to talk about motherhood in the plural: chosen and imposed, supported and lived alone.
Molly Gochman will be joined by Alexandra Haas, Director of Oxfam Mexico; Brenda Lozano, Author; Elke Krasny, Professor of Art and Education at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna; Marcelina Bautista, Founder and Director of CACEH; the Pueblos Originarios de Oaxaca Market Collective; Eréndira Ibarra, Actress, Producer and Activist; Daniela Rivera Torres, Founder and Director of Parque La Cañada; and Bárbara Arredondo Ayala, Co-Founder and Director of DECIDIDAS.

SESSION 2 | WORKSHOP
What to Do When Someone Close to You Is Experiencing Violence
Facilitated by Marilú Rasso, Political Scientist and Psychoanalyst, Specialist in the Prevention of and Response to Gender-Based Violence
When a friend, sister or coworker is in a violent relationship, we want to help but don’t always know how. Pressuring her to leave, judging her decisions or pulling away out of frustration can leave her more alone just when she most needs support.
In this workshop, Marilú shares practical tools for accompanying someone: how to recognize the signs, what to say and what to avoid, how to respect the other person’s timing and decisions while still caring for her, and when and how to seek professional or institutional support. She also addresses something rarely talked about: how to take care of yourself while supporting someone else.

SESSION 3 | WORKSHOP
Reconciling Your Relationship with Money with Who You Are Today
Facilitated by Marion Cortina, Creative Director and Co-Founder, LUAN Museo Emocional
Many of us were taught that money is a man’s business, that talking about it is in poor taste, or that it can only be earned by working to exhaustion. Those ideas, learned at home and at work, still shape how much we charge, how much we ask for and how much we allow ourselves to have.
In this workshop, Marion guides participants to recognize the beliefs about money they inherited, separate money from the gender roles they grew up with, and build a relationship with it that reflects who they are today. Drawing on a perspective that integrates feminine energy, each participant will leave with new beliefs that serve her and a more personal way to earn, manage and enjoy her money.

SESSION 4 | WORKSHOP
Creating Opportunities: Sowing Peace to Transform Girls’ Futures
Facilitated by Nadia Sánchez Gómez, Founder, She Is Foundation
In this workshop, Nadia Sánchez Gómez shares the model the She Is Foundation has used in areas affected by violence: opening economic and educational opportunities for women and girls as a foundation for building peace. Using concrete cases, such as its science and technology programs for girls, participants will look at what a girl needs to have real options and what each person, organization or company can do to create them.
Nadia is the founder and president of the She Is Foundation, present in all 32 departments of Colombia and in seven countries in the region, and directs the She Is Global Forum. She previously worked at the IDB and the OAS in Washington, D.C. Her foundation has directly benefited more than 20,000 women and 1,200 girls, signed an agreement with NASA’s Space Center, and was presented as a success story at the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates. Forbes named her one of the 100 most powerful women in 2023 and 2024.

SESSION 1 | LECTURE
Mothers, Protesters, Resisters: Maternal Activism and the Power of Care
Elke Krasny, Professor and Director of the Art and Education Program, Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, Austria
Maternal activism is a form of feminist resistance against militarization, femicide, state violence and the disappearance of daughters, sons and relatives. It centers mothers who have turned care, grief and the search for their disappeared loved ones into collective action, public protest and demands for truth and justice. Through an analysis of these political actions, the lecture questions the separation between care and politics and shows how maternal activism opposes the normalization of violence while sustaining bonds, communities and struggles for accountability. It also asks which forms of resistance are remembered and commemorated, and how recognizing mothers as political actors can transform dominant narratives about protest and resistance. Finally, it proposes understanding care not as a private responsibility or an expression of maternal sacrifice, but as a political force through which mothers confront violence, resist erasure and defend the value of human life.
Elke Krasny is Professor of Art and Education at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, a feminist cultural theorist, urban researcher and curator. She is co-curator and co-editor of Critical Care: Architecture and Urbanism for a Broken Planet (MIT Press, 2019) and author of Living with an Infected Planet: Covid-19, Feminism and the Global Frontline of Care (2023). Her work on urbanism was part of the 2012 Venice Architecture Biennale. She is co-editor of the Monuments to Motherhood Mexico book.

SESSION 2 | WORKSHOP
What We Were Taught About Being a Man
Facilitated by Diego Alfaro, Host and Actor
Don’t cry, don’t ask for help, provide, compete, endure. The rules of what it means to be a man shape how men relate to their bodies, their emotions and their partners, and how work, care and power are divided at home and in the office.
In this workshop, Diego shares what he has learned from conversations about masculinity and opens questions for men and women alike: which mandates we keep repeating, which we reinforce without realizing it when we raise children, work or choose a partner, and what changes when men also take part in the conversation about equality.

SESSION 3 | WORKSHOP
The Things I Wish I’d Known
Facilitated by Valeria Stoopen Barois, aka L’Amargeitor, Author
A workshop about what no one told us in time: from motherhood and parenting to work, relationships and the expectations we carry without questioning. Valeria, author of Las cosas que no nos dijeron, shares with humor and candor what she learned late, and guides participants to identify the ideas they inherited, which ones no longer serve them and what they want to do differently. A session to talk about the uncomfortable and leave with more clarity about one’s own decisions.
→ ROOM TWO, MUPO→
SESSION 4 | WORKSHOP
How to Take Your Business to the Next Level
Facilitated by Jennifer Mundo, Founding Partner and Director, EU4IA
Many entrepreneurs reach a point where the business works but doesn’t grow: everything depends on them, there’s no time to plan and every decision is made on the fly. Moving past that takes more than working longer hours.
In this workshop, Jen guides participants to assess where their business is today, what is holding it back and what decisions they need to make to grow: from organizing processes and finances to delegating, seeking funding or entering new markets. Each participant will leave with clear priorities and concrete next steps for her company.

What’s Behind Your Financial Decisions
Facilitated by Rima Nader Khoury, Founder of Lo Básico
Money is never just money. There are emotions behind it that sometimes make the numbers not add up. This workshop is an invitation to look inward. Because even though it’s rarely talked about, beliefs, fears, and vulnerability are an essential part of the conversation. We’ll explore questions such as: Where do you stand financially? Are you truly living in stability? What lies behind how and where you choose to spend?
Rima Nader Khoury is the founder of Lo Básico, a project that brings finance closer to people through empathy, clear language, and real-life perspective. She is currently working on a publication with Editorial Planeta. She has collaborated on public and private projects with Se Regalan Dudas, TALA, DELL, nonprofit organizations, among others.
